Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX07 7MP Digital Camera - Brown:
I got this camera to replace my DMC-FX7, which is 5 megapixels but essentially the same camera. Normally the DMC-FX07 costs more, but the brown ones are on sale, supposedly because no one likes brown. Go figure! It's a nice-looking camera.
Now, there are a few things about this camera that I wanted to change, but in the end I went with it for several reasons. It's an exceedingly sturdy camera and small. My old one stood up to a lot of abuse, being carried constantly in my pocket or purse without a case, but it takes great photos. I love the Leica lens, and the wider angle and higher megapixels on this new one are a bonus.
I have read that the low-light photos suffer from loss of quality, and I do take a lot of those. Now, most of my photos are posted online, so that's not huge problem. What does bug me is not being able to manually set an exposure longer than a second. The "night scenery" setting will give you more time automatically, but then you can't set the white balance. Still, I've managed OK with that, so for the price and ease of use, I'll live with it.
One feature I really like is the zoom feature on review. You can set the camera to review a shot right after you've taken it, and it will zoom in on the center of the shot so you can really see if it was in focus. I take a lot of macro shots, and this feature is invaluable to me. And yes, the macro lens works great.
You can spend a lot more money to get more features, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a camera this small and sturdy that takes such nice shots.
Right after I got this camera, a couple of people who read my blog went out and got it, too, and they tell me they're very happy with it.
One other thing: this camera comes with some kind of photo-management software, but you don't have to use it. I've never even installed it. I usually just cable the camera directly to the computer, which reads it just like another hard drive (I've used it for file transfer in a pinch!). You can also use it with a card reader.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX07 7MP Digital Camera - Brown:
This is an all around solid, feature packed camera. I've used it everywhere from traveling through Japan and China to taking close up pictures of products at work for print and web use. Great compact size, i've always got it in my pocket for that impromptu shot. Fast on-time and quick shots. I've had/used Canon, Sony, Casio, and Olympus (the worst in shot time to card). This camera (lumix in general) is the hands down best. For durability I've dropped it on asphalt getting out of the van, had it in pocket with keys, change, cellphone, and the screen barely scratches. Been in high humidity and the camera just keeps going. The battery lasts *Forever*, I shoot like a madman. (I would invest in a second battery though and you can go a whole day without worry). Because of the 2" screen you get longer battery life. Dont buy cameras with a big screen, it definitely impacts battery life. Also regarding this, the later models seemed to go with a smaller battery... =less shoot time. Lame descision. It is SDHC compatible, so 8GB chips work. Flash is good and strong, pictures are sharp, colors are vivid and natural. Great set of custom settings, especially the long shutter speeds for evening shots (but you'll benefit from buying a small pocket tripod for this because the camera needs to stay still. All in all I love this little camera. I also had the (DMC-FX07K) Black version which I liked even more because the finish was "rubberized" making it even more durable... took that one skiing and cold/wet didnt matter. Only low note is that is it not that great in low light. does have a setting but has to gets a little grainy balancing shutterspeed and exposure, but gets ok balance. I haven't found another camera that does better.
