The wide zoom range of the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM makes this a perfect lens for almost any situation. Its sixteen-element design includes two aspherical elements, and it focuses as close as 17.7 inches throughout the entire zoom range, even at the 28mm wide-angle zoom setting. Inner focusing means the front section doesn't rotate, a real benefit to photographers who use filters. Quick and silent photography is provided by Canon's exclusive micro USM system.

Be sure to use a tri/monopod for the 200mm distance, especially at night. But for all other situations, it is excellent to use! Especially great for taking portraits or candid shots of people from farther away.

This lens is a great buy. When I began looking for a new lens, I was looking for a all purpose lens that would give me good range. The Canon 28-200mm gave me the range I was looking for at the perfect price!

This lens covers a pretty good range making it good for everyday use and travel. I am not a professional, so I can't speak to the sharpness compared to other more expensive lenses, but I am happy with this purchase. I have been happy with the photos I have taken! It's good for travel when you don't want to bring a bunch of lenses with you.
