It is a good lens instead of the kit lens and a definate buy instead of the kit for anything canon

Love it... obviously intended by canon to replace the kit at a good price.

Comments about Canon 28-90 mm f/4-5.6 III AF Lens:

Our "kit" lens with our Digital Rebel was getting the "Err 99", we swapped with our old 35mm Rebel lens to verify.

So we had to obtain a new lens to replace the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, I read all I could before making the decision. The 28-90 mm f/4-5.6 III actually had a faster AF then the previous kit lens.

We are on a shoestring budget starting our photography to go with the DVD montage business. I am impressed with the quality of the photo for the price of the lens.

You can't go wrong if your looking at lenses under $200.00. In the future, I'll be upgrading to the IS/USM and 2.8 or better models. But right now I can't afford them, and I'm not dissapointed with the decision. This lens takes as good or better photos then the 18-55mm kit lens.

I'll add some images to compare the two later.

I compared photos taken by this lens vs Quantary and the images of the Canon seemed much more clear with the same amount of lighting.

I'll STICK with Canon lenses for my Rebel. Next I'll upgrade the body to a 30D or XTi.
