Excellent for photograhing small objects to sell on the internet. Light weight, easy to store. Good starting point on a limited budget. Takes a little practice to get the lighting right.

I bought this to photograph small hand-made wooden items (woodcarvings, pens, etc.)
The setup was quick and intuitive, but I was surprised by the total lack of instructions. There wasn't even so much as a pictographic guide to setting up the box. This unit is priced for the amateur market, so a brief tutorial on illumination techniques would not go amiss.
It took me a few minutes to figure out how the blue/gray backdrop was supposed to work, and I am still experimenting to find a lighting setup that produces shadow-free illumination. I will say that my first few photos, while far from perfect, showed a marked improvement over previous attempts without the box. I was impressed that the unit folded into itself to form the case, and the included lights by themselves were almost worth the cost of the unit.
Bottom line - good value, but needs instructions.

The Quantaray Studio in a Box is great for getting clear, well-lit shots of small items. A must for people taking high quality pictures for advertising products on [@]. It'd be nice to have more than just gray or blue backgrounds and the background material had a lot of wrinkles in it. Also, this whole set up is a little on the small side. You probably couldn't get a clear shot of a whole monitor, for instance, though an open 17-inch laptop would fit quite well.And, the mini-tripod that was included is pretty delicate. My Canon XTi was too heavy for it, though it would probably work for the smaller point-and-shoot cameras.On the whole, it was a good purchase for me and I'd recommend it to a friend.

It is a pretty good product, be careful lights really get hot! Tried it for Jewelry but it just doesn't do the job. Good for general products.
