I purchased this charger as a back up for the one that came with the camera and to avoid having to use a converter when travelling overseas. It turns out that the original charger has a built in converter - all you need is a plug adapter which only cost a few dollars. The only real advantage of this product is that it plugs directly into an outlet, so you don't need a cord.
