Comments about Tamron 10-24mm SP AF F/3.5-4.5 Di-ll LD Aspherical IF (Nikon):
I use this lens to photograph architecture. Later I use the pictures on my lectures. This lens does exactly what I need. I agree with other reviewers about how those "pro-reviewers" exaggerate the note. They are just trying very hard to impress the pro crowd but do not think about the enthusiast, common photographer who does not make a life from photography. Think what kind of shutter you are and then decide if it is worth to pay 900 + for the "brand" lens. In my case, this lens does exactly what I need and does it well.

Comments about Tamron 10-24mm SP AF F/3.5-4.5 Di-ll LD Aspherical IF (Nikon):
The lens is great for capturing and entire room. It has fast auto focus and the clarity is superb. The only draw back is the camera built in flash dispenses a shadow when used and certain focal lengths.
I would highly recommend this lens.

Comments about Tamron 10-24mm SP AF F/3.5-4.5 Di-ll LD Aspherical IF (Nikon):
I'm glad I bought this lens before I read a terriblly snooty review by one of the "pro" reviewers on the internet. He found the sharpness of the images produced by this lens so inferior to other, much more expensive lenses, that he recommended against this lens in almost any situation. If you are shooting for large format, high resolution printing and high end product photography, this is probably not the lens for you, but if you are shooting mainly for computer screen viewing, this lens is more than adeqauate. I photograph virtual tours for real estate agents, and have, thus far, found this lens an excellent choice without breaking the bank. The extreme wide angle allows me, for the first time, to capture attractive images of small bathrooms and even walk-in closets. Its also great for kitchens, smaller bedrooms, and home offices. Since I usually shoot with at least a little fill flash from an SB600, I don't have to use the widest apertures and can, thus, avoid the softness that was mentioned in the review. For larger rooms, I can zoom the lens in a little and acheive nice, sharp images. In addition, the zoom range of this lens allows me to shoot my virtual tours without changing lenses. I shoot the exteriors with the lens zoomed to 18-24 mm, and the interiors with the it set to 10-15 mm.
Even on the widest angle, there is almost no noticeable vignetting and the fish eye distortion is barely worth correcting for in most cases. However, it is possible to correct for both of those conditions in about thirty seconds with Photoshop Elements.
Would I have bought the Nikon version of this lens if price were not a consideration? Of course! By buying this lens instead, did I save almost enough money to buy a new camera? Yep!
