Comments about Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC XR For Nikon:
The lens is great for the price. It takes really good photos and sharp above f3.5 - The VC (Vibration Control's) motor is noisy when it engages and disengages. It is really annoying especially if you have tried Nikon's VR and Sigma's OS version of vibration control. Also, at wide open (2.8), the focus is off at the focus point. You either have to send the lens back to Tamron, or make a fine focus adjustment in your camera. Again, Tamron didn't put the extra effort in their quality control of this particular model. The store tried another one from the box to see if the sharpness is right on, that too is off. This is basically what you're paying for is to be able to shoot sharp photos in low-light right? Well, if only Tamron can get this issue resolved, it would be a darn good lens for the price. As far as color is concern, it's comparable to Nikon's version. But the noise of the VC motor, you're just gonna have to live with that if you don't want to spend the extra bucks for the Nikon or Sigma. I will recommend this lens to a friend with a big "CAUTION." Happy shooting!

Besides the motor being rather loud, I really can't complain about this lens. The price is great for the quality. I have this lens on my camera 70% of the time and I am definitely impressed with how well it works in low light.
