| Compact, lightweight and a wide magnification range - this standard zoom lens features a wide focal length range from normal to telephoto equivalent to 29-320mm in the 35mm format. It features an Optical Image Stabilizer for up to 4-stops of effective correction even at full zoom. Since Canon's optical image stabilization system is in the lens, not in the camera, you can see the stabilized, steadier images through the viewfinder. And the circular aperture can give beautiful background blur effects. This new wide zoom ratio EF-S lens delivers excellent high-speed performance at an affordable price. |

Comments about Canon 18-200mm EF-S f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens:
I took this lens on my honeymoon through Spain for 16 days. There were lots of low light situations such as cathedrals and outdoor nighttime activities. Looking through my pictures there are some simply amazing pictures that I handheld that I thought would never turn out.
There are only two real problems that I have with the lens. The first is that it's a telescoping lens, which can lead to dust getting sucked into the camera body. It's also a little annoying as the lens will extend if left pointing down. At least the lens comes with a lens lock, but this is annoying to lock/unlock everytime you want to use the lens.
The other problem I had was quirky. I have a Canon XTi, and when my battery level gets down to about 1 bar (of 3) on the screen, after taking a picture the camera will freeze up. It will look like the body is trying to record the picture, but it will do it endlessly (I waited 5 minutes before I gave up). What was even more odd is that if I turned off the power switch, it wouldn't turn off the camera. I would have to physically remove the battery to get it to turn off (and lose the picture I took). If I put in a fully charged battery this problem would go away, and it only happens on this lens.
Overall, as long as you have a charged battery, this is a great walk around lens.
