Comments about Canon 50 mm f/2.5 EF Macro Lens:
I am what I call a beginning professional. I have a few published photos and have won a handful of small contests. This is a great macro lens for the amateur who wants more! The range is great and the detail you gain from small objects is wonderful. I take a lot of photos of insects and plant life and this is perfect for those finer details you just can't get otherwise. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get the finer things in life.

Comments about Canon 50 mm f/2.5 EF Macro Lens:
This lens produces gorgeous photos. However, the lens does not glide on when attaching. It fits too snuggly and you can feel a slight grind when attaching or detaching. I imagine you could damage your camera over time if you were careless about mounting and dismounting the lens.

Comments about Canon 50 mm f/2.5 EF Macro Lens:
I like Nikon... But, I use Canon as well.
I dropped this lens before from an unstable tripod....however, the lens survived the ordeal. Image quality didn't change, still fast focus, perfect.
It's not the lens you use everyday, however, you can still use them for general purposes. If you want to get up close to a small object, this is what you want.
Compared to Nikon 60/F2.8, this lens gives less contrast, seems to be darker (I'm not sure why?), and can't get closer than Nikon. It also appears to be less durable (although it survived the fall... to compare, I must smash my Nikon lens, which I would not try)
Said that, this lens is cheaper and lighter. It also gives better color than Nikon under tungsten light. But that may be more of a camera. You should not decide which camera tgo bu based on macro lens. Look at other reviews if you are not sure if you want to get Nikon or Canon.
Well, wait, I guess that's more that I like about this lens. It makes less noise/sound when auto-focusing, and focusing is really much faster than Nikon. (I prefer manual focus, so I don't notice these good things about the lens).
Verdict:
Get one if you have Canon Camera. That's simple! But remeber, it's a macro lens, so when using for general none-close up photos, it appears to have very narrow deapth of field... Excellent Macro Lens!!!

Comments about Canon 50 mm f/2.5 EF Macro Lens:
Lens is great for macro work and general outdoor shots, the auto focus performs quickly and in the right situation I have found it to produce nice crisp results. The body of the lens is not particulary robust so I treat it with care.

Comments about Canon 50 mm f/2.5 EF Macro Lens:
I really love this lens. I purchased the canon digital rebel eos with the kit lens. The kit lens is really bad,so I picked this lens up and I am much happier!
